SHORTBLOCK
Our most comprehensive frame assembly is a Shortblock where we do the fitting of major gun components for you. This includes a frame, slide, barrel/comp, and slide stop all fitted to each other. We add our Lightning slide cuts, sight cuts, and even a Zigracker so you won’t need to worry about any machining operations. Choose from a Shortblock designed for the build of an Open Division style pistol or one designed for the build of a Limited Division style gun.
Bonus: With the purchase of a shortblock, get 10% OFF the parts required to complete your build.
Open Shortblock Specifications
Price:
Caliber:
-
Chamber cut for 9x19 or 38 Super/Super Comp
Frame:
-
Brazos Modular Double Stack (MDS) standard/wide (short dust cover) frame
-
Wilson/Nowlin ramp
-
Drilled and tapped for scopemount
-
The frame has been optimized to work with both the polymer STI grip and the Cheely steel grip. Either of these grips can be installed with little or no fitting. There is a small amount of extra material in the grip safety area for blending
Slide:
-
Brazos Lightning slide with a classic (scalloped) profile
-
Slide has been radically lightened for speed -- it has been flat topped and includes our trademark Brazos Custom lightning holes in the front with bullet cocking serrations in the back
-
Slide is fitted to the frame during the frame manufacturing process in order to ensure a precise and long-lasting fit. This also produces bearing surfaces that are parallel/square to the frame
Barrel/Comp:
-
One-piece barrel/comp (either Brazos or Bar-Sto) machined with our popular Thundercomp 2 compensator cuts
-
Choose to have the barrel short chambered in .355 or reamed for 9mm or 38 Super/Super Comp
-
Barrel ramp has been tuned, and the barrel muzzle has been crowned
-
Poppleholes can be cut in the barrel for an additional $250.00
Additional Components:
-
ZigRacker (for right--handed shooter) with the corresponding dovetail cut in slide
-
Slide stop fitted and blended to the frame
-
“Matched” hammer and sear pin are provided with each frame. Pins are sorted by size in 0.0002 inch increments, then individually matched to each frame for a tight, “no-play” fit. Particular attention has been paid to hole location and size. This makes for an easier trigger job because the hammer and sear engagement surfaces are square
